Rowing on the Surface vs. Diving into Spirit: Trusting the Call of the Deep

Image
I had a dream recently that left me shaken and contemplative. I rowed a small boat across dark waters at night in the dream. The only light came from the moon above. Suddenly, something bumped the side of my boat. My heart raced. I looked over the edge, and all I could see was endless black water. A voice inside whispered: “Touch the water.” But I resisted.      Then, in the distance, I saw her… Yemaya, radiant under the moonlight. She dove gracefully into the ocean, her tail flashing, and swam deeper and deeper until she disappeared. I woke up with the same lingering feeling I often have when she appears in my dreams: I disappointed her by refusing to reach for the water. Living on the Surface      That dream revealed something profound about my own spiritual walk. Many of us row on the surface of our lives — we work hard, keep moving forward, and stay in control. But we rarely dare to stop and actually t...

The Holistic Haven Community Nourishment Initiative: Fighting Food Insecurity with Innovation

Image
Hey Friends, Big News! The Holistic Haven Community Nourishment Initiative Is Here — And I Want You In! Okay, so I’ve been bursting to tell you about this new project I’m launching called The Holistic Haven Community Nourishment Initiative , and I just can’t keep it to myself anymore! 🎉 Imagine this: fresh, healthy food growing right in our neighborhoods — not just at some faraway store — but close enough that everyone can get it easily. And even better, sharing food with neighbors through smart fridges that use cool tech to reduce waste and ensure no one goes hungry. Sounds impressive, right? Well, that’s exactly what we’re doing in Charlotte and Raleigh! We’re bringing together innovative ideas like micro indoor farms and food-sharing networks to change how we think about food access. Why? Because so many folks in these cities have a hard time finding fresh fruits and veggies, and it breaks my heart. This initiative isn’t just about food — it’s about building community, li...

Cultivate Peace Through Intention

Image
Scripture: “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:7 (NIV) In a world that constantly demands more productivity, hustle, and noise, peace can seem like a luxury rather than a necessity. But the truth is, peace is not passive. Peace is not something that happens to us. Peace is something we cultivate  through intention . At The Divine Holistic Haven , we believe that inner peace is not just a spiritual gift, but a holistic lifestyle choice—one that begins with mindfulness and flows from the spirit, through the body, and into every area of your life. What Does It Mean to Cultivate Peace? Cultivating is to prepare the ground, tend, nourish, and grow something with care. Just as you would tend a garden, you must nurture your spirit. Peace doesn’t simply show up on your doorstep. It comes when you are intentional about: Creating a calm environment Protecting your menta...

“When the Ocean Comes to You”

Image
A certain magic comes when you dream of the sea, not where you’re simply sitting on the beach, but where the ocean decides to visit you. Lately, my nights have been filled with strange and vivid scenes that feel like messages written in saltwater. One night, I was just going about life in a building when I heard a loud thud. In the next room, a seahorse,  yes, you read that right, bursts through a window like a deer leaping into the forest. It lands, shakes itself off, and floats away as if this is perfectly reasonable behavior for a creature of the sea. The man beside me and I stare at each other, wordless, knowing we’ve witnessed something impossible. Another night, I’m living my daily routine, except… I’m underwater, in the ocean, and it feels completely normal. People are talking, life is happening, but that shimmering, endless blue surrounds us. And in between those nights? A dream of sitting with people who were helping me plan and build my non-profit project, a d...

Rooted in Love: Grounding Your Identity in Divine Truth

Image
Prompt: Ground your identity in divine love. Scripture: “So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love…” – Ephesians 3:17 (ESV) A divine strength comes when we choose to ground our identity in real, divine, unconditional love. In a world constantly trying to define us by our looks, titles, failures, or past, it’s revolutionary to say: “I am who I am because of Love.” Paul’s letter to the Ephesians reminds us that when Christ dwells within our hearts through faith, we become rooted, not in fear, shame, or performance, but in love. This love isn’t fleeting. It doesn’t waver based on mood or merit. It’s the unshakeable foundation that allows us to grow, bloom, and weather life’s storms with grace. A Parallel from the Islamic Tradition In the Qur’an, we find this verse: "Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds – the Most Merciful will appoint for them affection (love)." – Surah Maryam 19:96 This ayah ...
