“When the Ocean Comes to You”

A certain magic comes when you dream of the sea, not where you’re simply sitting on the beach, but where the ocean decides to visit you. Lately, my nights have been filled with strange and vivid scenes that feel like messages written in saltwater.

One night, I was just going about life in a building when I heard a loud thud. In the next room, a seahorse, yes, you read that right, bursts through a window like a deer leaping into the forest. It lands, shakes itself off, and floats away as if this is perfectly reasonable behavior for a creature of the sea. The man beside me and I stare at each other, wordless, knowing we’ve witnessed something impossible.

Another night, I’m living my daily routine, except… I’m underwater, in the ocean, and it feels completely normal. People are talking, life is happening, but that shimmering, endless blue surrounds us.

And in between those nights? A dream of sitting with people who were helping me plan and build my non-profit project, a dream that felt more like a planning meeting with Spirit than just my subconscious doing its thing.

Water has been following me in dreams for months, flowing into spaces it doesn’t belong. I’ve also had a dream where I met myself, and ever since, something in my waking life has shifted. I feel… different.

I can’t help but wonder if Yemayá, the great ocean mother of the Seven African Powers, is whispering through these dreams. Water dreams are signs of emotional change, deep healing, and a return to the source in many traditions. They’re reminders that the ocean doesn’t ask permission to enter our lives, it just arrives, bringing whatever transformation it chooses.

And maybe these dreams are telling me and you that when the ocean comes to you, it’s because something within you is ready to rise like the tide.

I’ll share more about these water dreams' spiritual meanings soon. But for now, I’ll leave you with this question: would you let it in if the sea came knocking at your door?
